Comment

In the Rhacophorus (Rhacophorus) schlegelii group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 77; see comment under Rhacophorus for dissenting opinion regarding the recognition of this group. See account by Okada, 1966, Fauna Japon., Anura: 166-171. See Kuramoto, 1979, Japan. J. Herpetol., 8: 11-13, for discussion of two subspecies. Nishioka, Sumida, Ohta, and Suzuki, 1987, Sci. Rep. Lab. Amph. Biol. Hiroshima Univ., 9: 53-96, rejected the status of this species a subspecies of Rhacophorus schlegeli and provided electrophoretic evidence the distinctiveness of the two subspecies. Maeda and Matsui, 1990, Frogs Toads Japan, Ed. 2: 146-153, provided accounts. Goris and Maeda, 2004, Guide Amph. Rept. Japan: 123-127, provided accounts, maps, and photographs. Nakamura, Takahashi, and Ota, 2009, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 28: 28-33, discussed the disappearance of this species from Yoronjima in the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan.
