Philautus papillosus Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 266. Holotype: WHT 3284, by original designation. Type locality: "Handapan Ella Plains (near Rakwana), alt. 1270 m (06° 26′ 42″ N, 80° 36′ 35″ E)", Sri Lanka.

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Handapan Ell Plains, near Rakwana, Sri Lanka, 1270 m elevation).

Comment

Resembles Philautus reticulatus according to the original publication. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 529. Ellepola, Herath, Manamendra-Arachchi, Wijayathilaka, Senevirathne, Pethiyagoda, and Meegaskumbura, 2021, PLoS One, 16(10: e0258594): 10, noted that on molecular criteria alone this nominal species is likely conspecific with Pseudophilautus reticulatus.
