The sister species of Pseudophilautus asankai (as Philautus), according to the original publication. World: 524. Ellepola, Herath, Manamendra-Arachchi, Wijayathilaka, Senevirathne, Pethiyagoda, and Meegaskumbura, 2021, PLoS One, 16(10: e0258594): 10, noted that on molecular criteria alone this nominal species is likely conspecific with Pseudophilautus asankai.
