Eastern Nepal and eastern and peninsular and northeastern India (West Bengal, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim (also reported for Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh) and Bangladesh into adjacent Myanmar, and possibly into adjacent China (see comment).

Ahmed, Das, and Dutta, 2009, Amph. Rept. NE India: 49, provided a brief account for northeastern India. The separation of this nominal species has not been well-documented from Polypedates leucomystax and eastern limit of the range has not be documented with respect to the western limit of Polypedates leucomystax . Further, the name (DRF) Rhacophorus maculatus himalayensis Annandale, 1912, from Assam (not treated by Ahmed, Das, and Dutta, 2009, Amph. Rept. NE India: 49) could threaten the priority of Polypedates teraiensis (Dubois, 1987). Sarkar, Biswas, and Ray, 1992, State Fauna Ser., 3: 91-92, provided a brief account (as Polypedates leucomystax) for West Bengal, India. Ao, Bordoloi, and Ohler, 2003, Zoos' Print J., 18: 1117-1125, provided a specific locality for Nagaland, northeastern India. Devi and Shamungou, 2006, J. Exp. Zool. India, 9: 317-324, provided a record for Manipur, northeastern India. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 93-94, provided systematic notes, access to literature, and range. Biju, 2001, Occas. Publ. Indian Soc. Conserv. Biol., 1: 19, doubted records (as Polypedates leucomystax) from Karnataka, India, although Daniels, 2005, Amph. Peninsular India: 161-163, reported the species from throughout peninsular India as far west as Gujarat. Choudhury, Hussain, Buruah, Saikia, and Sengupta, 2002, Hamadryad, 26: 277, commented on the Indian population (as Polypedates leucomystax). Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 170-171, and Sarkar and Ray, 2006, In Alfred (ed.), Fauna of Arunachal Pradesh, Part 1: 309, provided brief accounts (as Polypedates leucomystax) for the Indian population. See Shah and Tiwari, 2004, Herpetofauna Nepal: 73, for brief account (as Polypedates leucomystax).
