Philautus mjöbergi Smith, 1925, Sarawak Mus. J., 3: 11. Holotype: M. Smith 7265, by original designation; now BMNH 1925.9.1.1 by museum records. Type locality: "Mount Murud . . . . 7000 feet", Fourth Division, Sarawak [Malaysia], Borneo.

In the Philautus aurifasciatus group and resurrected from the synonymy of Philautus aurifasciatus (where it had been placed by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 341) by Dring, 1987, Amphibia-Reptilia, 8: 38–41.
