Comment

See Berry, 1975, Amph. Fauna Peninsular Malaysia: 91-92. Nyctixalus margaritifer and Philautus pallidipes are possible synonyms, according to Liem, 1973 "1971", Philipp. J. Sci., 100: 157. Dring, 1987, Amphibia-Reptilia, 8: 19-47, removed several taxa from synonymy and restricted this name to the Javan population. See account by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 341-344, which also addressed Philautus acutirostris, Philautus longicrus, Philautus mjobergi, and Philautus petersi, as synonyms and geographic components. Iskandar, 1998, Amph. Java Bali: 85-86, provided a brief account. See comment under Philautus vermiculatus. Recorded for Thailand by Khonsue and Thirakhupt, 2001, Nat. Hist. J. Chulalongkorn Univ., 1: 77; this requires confirmation. Biju, 2001, Occas. Publ. Indian Soc. Conserv. Biol., 1: 19, doubted records from Karnataka, India. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 122-123, to compare this species to other rhacophorids of the Sunda Shelf region. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 174, considered records for Karnataka, India, to be erroneous.
