Comment

Most similar to Chirixalus eiffingeri and Chirixalus idiootocus (now Kurixalus) according to the original publication. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 32, provided specific localities for Vietnam (as Chirixalus ananjevae). Yu, Zhang, and Yang, 2013, Biochem. Syst. Ecol., 47: 31–37, noted that Kurixalus ananjevae lacks the morphological synapomorphies of Kurixalus and presumably does not fit within that genus. Rowley, Le, Dau, Hoang, and Cao, 2014, Zootaxa, 3785: 25–37, transferred the species to GracixalusLe, Nguyen, Pham, Nguyen, Phan, Dang, and Ziegler, 2021, Herpetol. Notes, 14: 317–324, reported the species from Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam, and described its morphology and coloration. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 54, suggested for undisclosed reasons the Quang Nam Province record as likely based on a misidentification.
