Hylarana (Sylvirana) hekouensis Fei, Ye, and Jiang In Fei, Ye, Jiang, and Xie, 2008, Acta Zootaxon. Sinica, 33: 199. Holotype: CIB 89001, by original designation. Type locality: "Nanxi of Heko[u] County, Yunnan (22.52°N, 103.98° E ; alt . 170 m )", China.

English Names

Hekou Frog (Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 315).


Known only from the type locality (Nanxi, Hekou County, Yunnan, China), elevation 170 m, and another locality on the southeastern Guangxi/Vietnam border; very likely to be found in adjacent Vietnam.


In the Hylarana (Sylvirana) nigrovittata group, and previously confused with Hylarana nigrovittata, according to the original publication. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1151-1148, provided an account, figures, and map for China and placed it in their Hylarana (Sylvirana) hekouensis group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 315, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 352–353, provided an account (as Sylvirana hekouensis), photographs, and a range map for China.
