Distr.: 350–351, provided an account (as Boulengerana guentheri), photographs, and a range map for China. Wangyal, 2013, J. Threatened Taxa, 5: 4777, provided a record for Sylvirana cf. guentheri from Mongar District, Bhutan.   Zhou, Qiu, Fang, Yang, Zhao, Fang, Zheng, and Liu, 2014, Zool. Res., Kunming, 35: 42–50, reported on call characteristics in China. Zug, 2013, Rept. Amph. Pacific Is.: 75–76, provided a brief discussion of the introduced Hawaii populations.  Wangyal, 2014, J. Bhutan Ecol. Soc., 1: 30, noted that the presence in Bhutan requires confirmation. On the basis of rather shallow taxon sampling, Huang and Tu, 2016, Genet. Mol. Res., 15 (3, gmr.15038302): 1–9, suggested on the basis of molecular phylogenetics that this species is imbedded within Babina, but this requires further investigation given the essentially parallel study by Oliver et al. (2015) which found it within SylviranaPham, An, Herbst, Bonkowski, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2017, Bonn Zool. Bull., 66: 37–53, provided records for Cao Bang Province, Vietnam, along with observatons on morphology and natural history.
