Distribution

Siberut Island, Mentawai island group, and possibly montane forested regions of Sumatra (Bengkulu, Barisan Selatan, and Jambi)/ 

Comment

In the Section Hylarana, subsection Hydrophylax, subgenus Pulchrana of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 326. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 84-86, to compare this species to other ranids of the Sunda Shelf region. See discussion and account by Brown and Guttman, 2002, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 76: 393-461, who noted the possibility of occurrence in Sumatra. Leong and Lim, 2004, Raffles Bull. Zool., 52: 261-263, provided the record from Peninsular Malaysia. Chan and Ahmad, 2009, Herpetol. Rev., 40: 294-301, provided an account for peninsular Malaysia, reported it from Kuala Gandah, Pahag, and commented on the range.  Chan, Brown, Lim, Ahmad, and Grismer, 2014, Herpetologica, 70: 231, noted that the records for Peninsular Malaysia were actually of a new species, Hylarana centropeninsularis.
