Neotype designated (indirectly as Rana daunchina Chang, 1933) by Fei and Ye IN Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 11161 as CIB 638899. Type locality: "a pond of Hountsinping [= Hungchun-ping], Mount Omei, Omeihsien . . ., 1300 meters altitude", Sichuan, China. Neotype from "Mt. Emei, Sichuan Prov., China: 1900 m". Preoccupied by Rana musica Linnaeus, 1766 (= Bufo terrestris).
