Comment

Related to Amolops loloensis (as Staurois loloensis), according to the original publication. Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 184-186, and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 238-239, provideds brief accounts. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 86, stated the species to be in northern Vietnam. See also brief account by Zhao and Yang, 1997, Amph. Rept. Hengduan Mountains Region: 116-117. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 19, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Ao, Bordoloi, and Ohler, 2003, Zoos' Print J., 18: 1117-1125, reported the species from Nagaland, northeastern India; Biju, Mahony, and Kamei, 2010, Zootaxa, 2408: 43, suggested that these specimens are lost but should be reexamined with respect to their identity. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 429, provided an account (as Amolops caelumnoctis), photographs, and a range map for China. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 99-100, provided a brief account for Yunnan, China. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 628. Wogan, Vindum, Wilkinson, Koo, Slowinski, Win, Thin, Kyi, Oo, Lwin, and Shein, 2008, Hamadryad, 33: 86, provided the first record for Kachin state, Myanmar. Mathew and Sen, 2010, Pict. Guide Amph. NE India: 75, provided a brief characterization and photograph. Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted two larval descriptions in the literature. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1545-1549, provided an account, figures, and range map, and included the species in their Amolops mantzorum group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 410, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 427, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China.  In the Amolops viridimaculatus group of Zeng, Liang, Li, Lyu, Wang, and Zhang, 2020, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 146 (106753): 1–9, and Wu, Yan, Stuart, Prendini, Suwannapoom, Dahn, Zhang, Cai, Xu, Jiang, Chen, Lemmon, Lemmon, Raxworthy, Orlov, Murphy, and Che, 2020, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 144 (106701): 1–13, who discussed molecular phylogenetics. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 46, suggested that the Vietnam records require confirmation. In the Amolops viridimaculatus group of Jiang, Ren, Lyu, Wang, Wang, Lv, Wu, and Li, 2021, Zool. Res., Kunming, 42: 574–591. Zhang, Rowley, Liu, Nguyen, Nguyen, Tapley, Nguyen, Yang, Cutajar, Zhang, and Yuan, 2021, Zootaxa, 5057: 181–200, provided new records and placed Amolops caelumnoctis into the synonymy of Amolops splendissimus on the basis of morphology and low genetic distance in the 16S mtDNA gene. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 35, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
