Cacosternum kinangopensis Channing and Schmitz, 2009 "2008", Afr. J. Herpetol., 57: 76. Holotype: NMK A/4372, by original designation. Type locality: "from a disused quarry near Murungaru village, North Kinangop, Kenya (00° 34′ 23.1″ S; 36° 29′ 29.2″ E, 2434 m)".

Kinangop Plateau to Kaptagat at higher elevations (above 2400 m) of the Aberdares, Kenya.
