Phrynobatrachus schioetzi Blackburn and Rödel, 2011, Herpetologica, 67: 276. Holotype: ZMB 74523, by original designation. Type locality: "Federal Republic of Nigeria, Cross River State, Obudu Plateau, tributary of Afundi River, 6.428°N, 9.362°R (datum not specified), elevation ca. 1500 m (estimated based on latitude and longitude)".

Obudu Plateau of Nigeria, possibly extending east into adjacent Cameroon.


Most closely related to Phrynobatrachus manengoubensis and Phrynobatrachus werneri, according to the original publication.
