Phrynobatrachus pintoi Hillers, Zimkus, and Rödel, 2008, Zootaxa, 1815: 44. Holotype: ZMB 70689, by original designation. Type locality: "gallery forest, 11°06.377′N, 13°57.595′ W, Kewewol/Boulléré, Boké Préfecture/Sangaredi sub-Préfecture, Guinea".

Western part of the Fouta Djallon region, western Guinea.

Comment

Mostly closely related to Phrynobatrachus fraterculus, Phrynobatrachus cornutus, and Phrynobatrachus gutturosus according to the original publication. In species group B of Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883–900. Rödel, Doumbia, Kouamé, and Sandberger-Loua, 2011, Zootaxa, 3098: 59–63, provided new records and discussion of additional specimens. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 300–301, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. In the Phrynobatrachus calcaratus group of Goutte, Reyes-Velasco, and Boissinot, 2019, ZooKeys, 824: 53–70.
