Phrynobatrachus petropedetoides Ahl, 1924, Zool. Anz., 61: 102. Syntypes: ZMB (12 specimens) and MCZ 17534–35 (on exchange from ZMB, according to Barbour and Loveridge, 1946, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 96: 170). Type locality: "Ruwenzori, 1800 m", Uganda.

Montane forests of eastern Dem. Rep. Congo, southwestern Uganda, and extreme western Tanzania.
