Petropedetes parkeri Amiet, 1983, Rev. Suisse Zool., 90: 458. Holotype: BMNH 1936.3.4.124, by original designation. Type locality: "Atolo (región de Mamfe)", Cameroon.

Western Cameroon and eastern Nigeria, below 1000 m elevation; possibly to Equatorial Guinea and Gabon (see comment).


Specimens incorrectly allocated to Petropedetes johnstoni prior to description of Petropedetes parkeri. Gabon record by Lötters, Gossmann, Obame, and Böhme, 2001, Herpetofauna, Weinstadt, 23: 26. De la Riva, 1994, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 8: 132, provided a record for Equatorial Guinea. Lasso, Rial, Castroviejo, and De la Riva, 2002, Graellsia, 58: 21-34, provided notes on ecological distribution in Equatorial Guinea. Barej, Rödel, Gonwouo, Pauwels, Böhme, and Schmitz, 2010, Zootaxa, 2340: 17-22, provided an account and revision and allocated only specimens from western Cameroon and eastern Nigeria to this species with records from Equatorial Guinea and Gabon possibly belonging to Petropedetes euskircheniChanning, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 269–270, provided information on comparative larval morphology. Barej, Rödel, Loader, Menegon, Gonwouo, Penner, Gvoždík, Günther, Bell, Nagel, and Schmitz, 2014, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 71: 268, noted an unnamed species closely related to Petropedetes parkeri
