Type locality: "300 m north of Lake Esperance (146° 46′ E, 43° 13′ 30 S), Hartz Mountains National Park, 920 m", southern Tasmania, Australia.

Distribution

Cool and wet subalpine moorland and adjacent rainforest in southern Tasmania, Australia.

Comment

The sister taxon of Crinia tasmaniensis according to Read, Keogh, Scott, Roberts, and Doughty, 2001, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 21: 294. See brief account by Tyler and Knight, 2009, Field Guide Frogs Aust.: 110-111. The species name "nimbus" is a noun in apposition and does not change with the change in generic gender.
