Comment

Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, isuggested Chaperina to be the sister taxon of a group composed of Glyphoglossus, Calluella, and Microhyla. Peloso, Frost, Richards, Rodrigues, Donnellan, Matsui, Raxworthy, Biju, Lemmon, Lemmon, and Wheeler, 2016, Cladistics, 32: 113–140, found Chaperina to form the sister taxon of all other microhylids. Tu, Yang, Liang, and Zhang, 2018, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 126: 87, found Chaperina (in Chaperininae at the time) to rest within Microhylinae, based on a ML analysis, differing from the placement as the sister of all other microhylids found by the MP analysis of Peloso, Frost, Richards, Rodrigues, Donnellan, Matsui, Raxworthy, Biju, Lemmon, Lemmon, and Wheeler, 2016, Cladistics, 32: 135. For reasons unknown Tu et al. did not comment on this.
