Comment

See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 46, to compare this species with other microhylids in the Sunda Shelf region. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 626. See account by Zug, 2015, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 62: 171. Fukuyama, Matsui, Eto, Hossman, and Nishikawa, 2021, Zool. Anz., 293: 326–343, found that nominal Kalophrynus nubicola was composed of three largely allopatric populations on Gunung Mulu, which differ in advertisement calls, morphology, and molecular markers. The species elevationally above Kalophrynus nubicola was named Kalophrynus puncak and the species elevationally below was named Kalophrynus dringi
