Hoplophryne uluguruensis Barbour and Loveridge, 1928, Mem. Mus. Comp. Zool., 50: 254. Holotype: MCZ 13766, by original designation. Type locality: "in a wild banana at the top of Mt. Mbova (local name) above Nyange, Uluguru Mountains, Tanganyika Territory [Tanzania]".

Uluguru, Nguru, Mahenge and Udzungwa Mountains, east-central Tanzania, 900 to 2300 m elevation.
