Chiasmocleis mehelyi Caramaschi and Cruz, 1997, Herpetologica, 53: 263. Holotype: MZUSP 65105, by original designation. Type locality: "Estância Caiman, Municipality of Miranda (19° 58′ S, 56° 19′ W), State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil".

Distribution

Known only from two localities in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil; likely in adjacent Bolivia and Paraguay (see comment).

Comment

De la Riva, Köhler, Lötters, and Reichle, 2000, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 14: 58, and Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 69, consider this species possibly to occur in Bolivia. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 28, suggested that this species likely occurs in Paraguay.
