Oreophryne brevicrus Zweifel, 1956, Am. Mus. Novit., 1766: 23. Holotype: AMNH 43669, by original designation; this is in error according to AMNH records, the holotype actually being numbered 43699 (D. Dickey, personal comm.). Type locality: "at an elevation of 2800 meters, 9 kilometers northeast of Lake Habbema, Netherlands New Guinea [Papua, Indonesia]". Junior secondary homonym of Oxydactyla brevicrus Van Kampen, 1913, when both are in Asterophrys

Asterophrys brevicrus — Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 521, by implication. 

English Names

Lake Habbema Cross Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 91).

Distribution

High elevations in the central mountain ranges of eastern Papua (Indonesia) and extreme western Papua New Guinea, 2800–3000 m elevation.
