Cophixalus shellyi Zweifel, 1956, Am. Mus. Novit., 1785: 2. Holotype: AMNH 58551, by original designation. Type locality: "Kondiu, across the Wahgi River from Kup, elevation about 5000 feet, Northeast New Guinea [Chimbu Province, Papua New Guinea]".

Asterophrys shellyi — Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 479, by implication.

English Names

Shelly's Rainforest Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 89).

Distribution

Papua New Guinea: central mountain ranges from vicinity of Wau, Morobe Province, to Western Highlands and Madang Provinces; also disjunct populations in the Adelbert Mountains and on the Huon Peninsula.
