Cophixalus mcdonaldi Zweifel, 1985, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 182: 328. Holotype: QM J42064, by original designation. Type locality: "at an elevation of about 900-1000 m on Mt. Elliot, 30 km southeast of Townsville, Queensland", Australia.

In or adjacent to Palmerston National Park in northeastern Queensland, Australia, 900-1200 m elevation.
