Most closely related to Leptobrachium smithi and Leptobrachium rakhinense according to the original publication. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 140–141, provided a brief account (photograph, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). In the Leptobrachium smithi complex of Al-Razi, Maria, and Poyarkov, 2021, J. Nat. Hist., London, 55: 85–114, who reported on molecular systematics. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 27–28, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
