Leptobrachella baluensis Smith, 1931, Bull. Raffles Mus., 5: 12. Holotype: BMNH 1947.2.25.32 (originally numbered 1929.12.22.61), according to museum records. Type locality: "Kamborangah, alt. 7,200 feet", Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia (Borneo).
English Names
Kamborangah Borneo Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 85).
Distribution
Montane Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo) and in adjacent northern Kalimantan, Indonesia, 750-1800 m elevation; expected in Brunei.
Geographic Occurrence
Natural Resident: Indonesia, Malaysia, Malaysia, East (Sarawak and/or Sabah)
Likely/Controversially Present: Brunei

Resurrected from the synonymy of Leptobrachella mjobergi by Dring, 1983, Amphibia-Reptilia, 4: 96, where it had been placed by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 49. See brief account and photo by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 70. Malkmus, Manthey, Vogel, Hoffmann, and Kosuch, 2002, Amph. Rept. Mount Kinabalu: 89-90, provided an account. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 434. Haas, Das, Hertwig, Bublies, and Schulz-Schaeffer, 2022, Guide to the Tadpoles of Borneo: 139–141, summarized the knowledge of habitat, reproduction, larval morphology and coloration.
