Nat.: 49; syntypes are MNHNP 1883.580 and 1895.255 according to Blommers-Schlösser, 1979, Beaufortia, 29: 7, and Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 258. Type locality: "Madagascar . . . . côte Est".

Distribution

Eastern Madagascar except for the northeast.

Comment

Placed in the synonymy of Mantidactylus guttulatus by Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 18. This was subsequently rejected by Blommers-Schlösser, 1979, Beaufortia, 29: 7. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 230-231, provided an account and noted a similar unnamed species from northeastern Madagascar.
