Leptodactylus guianensis Heyer and de Sá, 2011, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 635: 35. Holotype: USNM 531509, by original designation. Type locality: "Guyana; Rupunini, Iwokrama Forest Reserve, Sipuruni River, Pakatau Camp, 4° 45′ 17″ N, 59° 01′ 28″ W, 85 m".

Distribution

Lowland portions of the Guiana Shield regions of French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela, and adjacent Brazil; on the southwestern border of Venezuela in Colombia at the Municipio Cumaribo, Departamento Vichada and Municipio Inírida, Department of Guainía, as well as Leticia, Amazonas, Colombia.

Confused with Leptodactylus bolivianus prior to its naming according to the original publication. Lescure and Marty, 2000, Collect. Patrimoines Nat., Paris, 45: 240-241, provided a photo and brief account for French Guiana (as Leptodactylus bolivanus). Washington, 125: 423, for brief account and records for Guyana. In the Leptodactylus latrans species group of de Sá, Grant, Camargo, Heyer, Ponssa, and Stanley, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 9(Spec. Issue 1): 1–123, and who provided a summary of relevant literature (adult and larval morphology, identification, advertisement call, and range) on p. 67–68. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 206–207, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. Osorno-Muñoz, Gutiérrez-Lamus, and de Sá, 2019, J. Nat. Hist., London, 53: 577–584, reported the species from Colombia near the southwestern Venezuela border, the Municipio Inírida, Department of Guainía, and from Municipio Cumaribo, Departamento Vichada, and Municipio Leticia, Departamento Amazonas, Colombia, and they discussed its identification relative to other members of the Leptodactylus latrans group.
