Comment

In the Physalaemus biligonigerus group of Nascimento, Caramaschi, and Cruz, 2005, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 63: 309. A sibling species of Physalaemus biligonigerus according to the original publication. Compared morphometrically with Physalaemus biligonigerus by Laurent, 1969, Acta Zool. Lilloana, 25: 81-96. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 25, suggested that this species likely occurs in adjacent Paraguay. Gómez and Kehr, 2011, Phyllomedusa, 10: 143-151, reported on developmental plasticity of larvae. In the Physalaemus cuvieri clade, Physalaemus biligonigerus species group, of Lourenço, Targueta, Baldo, Nascimento, Garcia, Andrade, Haddad, and Recco-Pimentel, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 92: 204–216.
