Type locality: "Cape Peninsula", Western Cape Province, Rep. South Africa; corrected to "Capetown", Western Cape Province, Rep. South Africa by Hewitt, 1927, Rec. Albany Mus., 3: 409, in the subsequent formal description. Status as subspecies rejected by Poynton, 1964, Ann. Natal Mus., 17: 178-179.
