Hyperolius ghesquieri Laurent, 1943, Ann. Mus. R. Congo Belge, Tervuren, Zool., 4: 98. Holotype: MRAC 1159, by original designation. Type locality: "Befale (Tshuapa)", central Dem. Rep. Congo.

English Names

Central Zaire Reed Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 67).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Befale, central Dem. Rep. Congo).

Comment

Extremely poorly known, known only from the holotype, and likely close to Hyperolius acutirostris, according to Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 153, although that species is restricted to Cameroon. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 396, regarded this nominal taxon as too insufficiently known to treat adequately in their fieldguide.
