Hyperolius diaphanus Laurent, 1972, Explor. Parc Natl. Virunga, Ser. 2, 22: 67. Holotype: MRAC, according to R. Laurent in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 209; not located, but in either MRAC or IRSNB according to Lang, 1990, Doc. Trav., Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 59: 8, so presumed lost. Type locality: "Kigulube, 900 à 1. 000 m, territorio de Shabunda, Kivu", eastern Dem. Rep. Congo.

Rainforest in the vicinity of the Itombwe Mountains and the mountains to the west of Lake Kivu, eastern Dem. Rep. Congo.
