In the Hylodes nasus group according to Heyer, 1982, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 95: 377-385. Transferred to the Hylodes lateristrigatus group by Pombal, Feio, and Haddad, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 462.  Weber and Caramaschi, 2013, Zootaxa, 3635: 557-568,  reported on comparative larval morphology of the species. Lingnau, Zank, Colombo, and Kwet, 2013, Stud. Neotrop. Fauna Environ., 48: 76-80, reported on vocalization with special reference to nocturnal calling. Noguiera-Costa and Wachlevski, 2015, Zootaxa, 4032: 199–202, reported on larval morphology and provided a record for Santa Catarina, Brazil.
