Scinax tripui Lourenço, Nascimento, and Pires, 2010 "2009", Herpetologica, 65: 469. Holotype: MNRJ 42890, by original designation. Type locality: "Estação Ecológica do Tripuí (20° 23′ 22″ S 43° 32′ 32″ W, elevation 1070m), Municipality of Ouro Preto, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil".

English Names

None noted.


Known currently only from the streams of the Estação Ecológica do Tripuí, Municipality of Ouro Preto, State of Minas Gerais; also reported  in the Serra Espinhaço; also found 252 km to the southwest in the Serra de Torres (21°02’60”S, 41°15’0.8”W), between the municipalities of Atilio Vivácqua, Mimoso do Sul, and Muqui, Espírito Santo, Brazil. 


In the Scinax catharinae group according to the original publication. Silva, Luna-Dias, Hepp, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2013, Check List, 9: 645-646, reported the species from the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Peixoto, Oliveira, Feio, and Dergam, 2016, Comp. Cytogenet., 10: 505–516, reported on karyological variation among populations.
