Soc., 4: 90, and BMNH (2 specimens from La Palma, Costa Rica); BMNH 1901.12.19.96 designated lectotype by Duellman, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 455. Type localites: "Mexico, Misantla and Jalapa . . . ; ?Costa Rica, La Palma"; restricted to Misantla, Veracruz, Mexico, by lectotype designation.

Hyla rickardsi Taylor, 1939 "1938", Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 25: 385. Holotype: EHT-HMS 5947, by original designation; now FMNH 100077 according to Marx, 1976, Fieldiana, Zool., 69: 53. Type locality: "near Potrero Viejo, Veracruz", Mexico. Synonymy by Duellman, 1964, Copeia, 1964: 455.
