Distribution
Northern part of the western flank of the Central Andes in Antioquia and Caldas, and on the western flank of the Western Andes in the eastern Chocó, of Colombia.

In the Dendropsophous columbianus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 90. Removed from the synonymy of Hyla carnifex by Kaplan, 1997, J. Herpetol., 31: 536-541, where it had been placed by Duellman, 1974, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 27: 7. Palacios-Rodríguez, Rengifo-Mosquera, and Echavarría-Renteria, 2013, Rev. Biodivers. Neotrop., 3: 127–130, provided a record from Chocó, Colombia, and discussed the range. Palacio Baena, Muñoz Escobar, Gallo Delgado, and Rivera-Correa, 2006, Anfibios y Reptiles del Valle de Aburrá: 66–68, provided a brief account and photograph.
