In the Hyla circumdata group according to the original publication. In the Bokermannohyla circumdata group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 83. Garey, Provete, Martins, Haddad, and Rossa-Feres, 2014, Check List, 10: 308–316, reported additional specimens and localities in the Serra da Bocaina National Park and surrounding areas.
