Hypsiboas almendarizae Caminer and Ron, 2014, ZooKeys, 370: 33. Holotype: QCAZ 39650, by original designation. Type locality: "Ecuador, Provincia Morona Santiago, General Leonidas Plaza, 'Limón', on the road to Gualaceo (2.9796°S, 78.4415°W), 1237 m above sea level". Zoobank:

Eastern Andean slopes of central and southern Ecuador (Morona Santiago, Napo, and Tungurahua provinces) at elevations of 500 to 1950 m. 


In the Hypsiboas albopunctatus species group, Hypsiboas calcaratus complex, most similar to Hypsiboas fasciatus and Hypsiboas calcaratus according to the original publication. Batallas-R. and Brito, 2016, Rev. Mexicana Biodiversidad, 87: 1292–1300, reported on vocalizations from Sangay National Park, southeastern Ecuador.
