Class: Amphibia > Order: Anura > Family: Hemisotidae > Genus: Hemisus > Species: Hemisus barotseensis

Hemisus barotseensis Channing and Broadley, 2002, J. Herpetol., 36: 368. Holotype: NMZB 16191, by original designation. Type locality: "Barotse floodplain near Mongu (15° 15′ 36.7″ S, 23° 07′ 46.0″ E), western Zambia".

English Names

None noted.

Barotse Floodplain and along the Zambezi River of western Zambia; possibly east to the Kafue Flats although this record is questionable (A. Channing, personal communication); possibly in suitable floodplain habitat in eastern Angola (see comment).

Most similar to Hemisus guineensis microps according to the original publication. Baptista, Conradie, Vaz Pinto, and Branch, 2019, In Huntley, Russo, Lages, and Ferrand (eds.), Biodiversity in Angola: 256, suggested that this species possibly extends into eastern Angola.
