Stefania scalae Rivero, 1970, Bol. Soc. Venezol. Cienc. Nat., 28: 456. Holotype: MCZ 64373, by original designation. Type locality: "the region of La Escalera, road between El Dorado and Sta. Elena de Uairén, around 1,200 m., Edo. Bolívar, Venezuela".

Upland streams in the La Escalera region, Bolívar, Venezuela; possibly into adjacent Guyana and Brazil.
