Distribution
Mountains of southeastern Brazil (states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, and Espiritu Santo), 500–1800 m.

See account by Heyer, Rand, Cruz, Peixoto, and Nelson, 1990, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 31: 252–253. Franz and Mello, 2015, Check List, 11 (Art. 1594): 1–4, reported Fritziana aff. fissilis from Rio Grande do Sul and discussed the taxonomic issue and range of the entire nominal species.
