Comment

Discussed by Duellman and Gray, 1983, Herpetologica, 39: 333-358. Removed from the synonymy of Flectonotus on phylogenetic grounds by Duellman, Jungfer, and Blackburn, 2011, Phyllomedusa, 10: 15-29, where it had been placed by Weygoldt and Carvalho-e-Silva, 1991, Amphibia-Reptilia, 12: 67-80.. Blackburn and Duellman, 2013, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 68 : 709-714, confirmed that Fritziana and Flectonotus are only distantly related.  Castroviejo-Fisher, Padial, De la Riva, Pombal, Silva, Rojas-Runjaic, Medina-Méndez, and Frost, 2015, Zootaxa, 4004: 1–72, provided a phylogenetic analysis of the species and related genera and noted a number of unnamed species. Folly, Hepp, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2018, Herpetologica, 74: 58–72, provided a Bayesian tree of the species of Fritziana. Walker, Lyra, and Haddad, 2018, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 123: 59–72, reported on the molecular phylogenetics of the group.
