Adelophryne pachydactyla Hoogmoed, Borges-Nojosa, and Cascon, 1994, Zool. Meded., Leiden, 68: 276. Holotype: MPEG 5711, by original designation. Type locality: "Brasil. Bahia. Fazenda Luzitania, Rio Almada, 2.4 km E of bridge in [= on] BR-101 over Rio Almada, bridge 600 m N of km 487 and 4.5 km N of branch road to Itajuipe, NW of Ilheus", Brazil.

Phylogenet. Evol., 65: 547-561, particularly with reference to the identity of the various Adelophryne lineages, both named and unnamed, in that paper as well as discussing morphological evolution within the genus. Juncá, 2006, Biota Neotrop., 6: 1–17, briefly summarized the presence of this species in the Serra da Jibóia region, Bahia, Brazil, and its habitat.
