Res., Ser. 2, 4: 187, who designated BMNH 1947.2.29.20 as lectotype and noted that the remaining paralectotypes are of various other species, including Limnonectes khasianus and Limnonectes laticpes, and, according to Dehling and Dehling, 2017, Zootaxa, 4317: 293, Limnonectes hikidai. Type locality: "Matang", Sarawak (Borneo), Malaysia.
Limnonectes conspicillatus — Matsui, Dubois, and Ohler, 2013, Asian Herpetol. Res., Ser. 2, 4: 188; Dehling and Dehling, 2017, Zootaxa, 4317 : 295.
English Names
Broad-headed Creek Frog (Haas, Das, Hertwig, Bublies, and Schulz-Schaeffer, 2022, Guide to the Tadpoles of Borneo: 129).
Distribution
Known with any certainty only from the type locality (Matang), western Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo) (see comment).
Geographic Occurrence
Natural Resident: Malaysia, Malaysia, East (Sarawak and/or Sabah)
Endemic: Malaysia, Malaysia, East (Sarawak and/or Sabah)
Comment
Removed from the synonymy of Limnonectes kuhlii by Dehling and Dehling, 2017, Zootaxa, 4317: 294 (who redescribed the holotype), where it had been placed by Günther, 1874, Zool. Rec., 9: 79; Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 20. Unfortunately, while the species was convincingly resurrected from synonymy, its natural range was not discussed. Haas, Das, Hertwig, Bublies, and Schulz-Schaeffer, 2022, Guide to the Tadpoles of Borneo: 129–132, summarized the knowledge of habitat, reproduction, larval morphology and coloration.
