Anomaloglossus confusus Myers and Grant, 2009, Am. Mus. Novit., 3659: 2. Holotype: AMNH A-104819, by original designation. Type locality: "from about 7 air km SSW El Corazón, 800 m elev., Bolívar-Cotopaxi border, northwestern Ecuador . . . . the type locality is roughly 01° 10′ S, 79° 09′ W . . . . The type locality was 11 km by gravel road SSW El Corazon on the way to Moraspungo and Quevedo".

Chocoan lowlands and Pacific versant of the Andes in northwestern Ecuador, 600 to 1540 m elevation.


Confused with Hyloxalus chocoensis prior to its naming, according to the original publication. Arteaga-Navarro, Bustamante, and Guayasamin, 2013, Amph. Rept. Mindo: 95–96, provided an account and dot map for Ecuador.
