Comment

See account by La Marca, 2004, Herpetotropicos, Mérida, 1: 19-28 (as Colostethus dunni), who considered this species to have no close relatives in Venezuela. Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299: 174, could not allocate this species beyond Aromobatidae, although they considered it likely that it is a species of Aromobates. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Colostethus dunni) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 222. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 33, for comments on range, taxonomy, possible extinction, and literature.
