Comment

Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299, suggested that likely several more genera will be recognized within this group as the diverse genus Allobates is partitioned. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, confirmed the monophyly of this taxon, although not including Allobates alagoanus, and its position as the sister taxon of Aromobatinae and provided a tree of their exemplar species. See comment under Aromobatidae regarding apparent instability of the overall tree. See comment under Aromobatidae and Allobates for discussions of monophyly.
