Comment

See account by Zweifel, 1969, Am. Mus. Novit., 2374: 12-16. Günther, 2003, Faun. Abh. Staatl. Mus. Tierkd., Dresden, 24: 215, discussed the range and provided new records. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 88, provided a brief account. Portik, Streicher, and Wiens, 2023, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 188 (107907): 25, placed this species phylogenetically, as Platymantis punctatus, within Cornufer, but without taking any taxonomic action and apparently without regard to the earlier paper by Brown, Siler, Richards, Diesmos, and Cannatella, 2015, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 174: 140, where the same conclusion had been reached.
