Comment

Narvaes and Rodrigues, 2009, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 40: 1-73, revised the Rhinella granulosa group, provided an account for this species, and noted hybridization with Rhinella major in Mato Grosso, Brazil, and with Rhinella granulosa in Bahia, Brazil. Jansen, Bloch, Schulze, and Pfenninger, 2011, Zool. Scripta, 40: 567-583, suggested that this nominal species may include at least one other cryptic species, although this was discussed and rejected by Pereyra, Baldo, Blotto, Iglesias, Thomé, Haddad, Barrio-Amorós, Ibáñez D., and Faivovich, 2016, Cladistics, 32: 45–46. Morais, Bastos, Annunziata, Kokubum, and Maciel, 2012, Zootaxa, 3265: 66-68, reported on the advertisement call. Schulze, Jansen, and Köhler, 2015, Zootaxa, 4016: 14–16, characterized the larva.
